1. . As shipped, SharePoint is configured to work with Microsoft Office documents created by applications like Microsoft Office Word and Microsoft Office Excel. For other file types like Mindjet MindManager .mmap files, SharePoint defines a configuration procedure for adding those file types to SharePoint so that users can edit those documents in their native application. Without this configuration, editing non-Office documents that are on a SharePoint server is difficult.
