At first I thought I was seeing double.
Long frustrated by Google's refusal to add a delete button to Gmail, I had installed the compiled Greasemonkey script I
posted about a while back and it's been working fine. A short while ago, I clicked on the button and... nothing
happened. I looked to see what might have gone amiss and saw not one but two Delete buttons. I disabled the add-on
button in the extensions dialog, restarted Firefox and...SHAZAM!
There was a shiny new Delete button. This hasn't been officially announced yet (no red text at the top of the page) but the Digg kids are all over it. If you use Gmail, expect to see it show up sometime soon.

1. Marc,
I had a complete different reaction. While a delete button would probably have been nice when I first started using gmail I'd gotten so used to the drop down "Move to trash" option that I spent the next 5 days looking in the drop down for a way to delete only to remember (and curse) that I had to hit the damn button. I think I'm finally retrained, but I'm annoyed that Google didn't leave both. Sure, add a delete button but don't change how I work with this interface. Next they'll take away the archive button and make me use the drop down list.
