Alexander Gorlach, a developer of Outlook add-ins for MAPI Labs, has screenshots on his blog at OfficeZealot.com showing built-in RSS subscription functionality in Outlook 12. Very interesting news for folks (like me) currently using NewsGator or Attensa to aggregate RSS into Outlook. While I'm sure it will not be a full featured as the NewsGator offering (which includes the FeedDemon application and NewsGator Online Services for web reading), this is awfully interesting. NewsGator definitely adds overhead to Outlook, which remains my preferred environment for aggregating, collecting, and storing RSS-based information.

1. If I remember well the PDC keynote about Vista, RSS subscriptions and read/unread status will be shared between Outlook, IE and gadgets in Windows Vista. I'm pretty sure Windows Live will also include the same personalized subscriptions and status.
