1. Readers should note that "Send to" is actually a folder and one can place any shortcut in that folder to simplify opening files. It is easiest to use Start, Run, sendto (no space) to open that folder. Now drag & drop apps to create shortcuts.

Great blog - just a note regarding sendtoany hack - when I installed this it took over three minutes! for a right click on the mouse to respond - removing the hack restored the usual response
Better by far to add shortcuts to the " sendto " Folder

3. G.Lyn - sorry you experienced performance issues with this. I have not seen that sort of lag (and would not put up with anything that slowed my system down like that). Two observations:

When you make a report like this, it really helps if you provide some context. In other words, what kind of PC are you experiencing this issue with (if it's an old P3 for example, I'd sure like to know that). What OS are you running? How much RAM?

I don't disagree with either you or mjh that adding shortcuts to the sendto folder is a more refined approach but most people don't know how to do this and, even when told, won't do this on an individual application basis anyway. The convenience of mapping and syncing the entire Start menu to the Send To menu is a great convenience.

4. Just to let you know that SendToAny v1.61 is available for download from the link above. This version converts Microsoft Installer shortcuts so that they will work under the SendTo menu (MS Office, Adobe Reader, etc etc), and fixes an uninstall problem.

To G Lynn, the performance of the SendTo menu should be similar to that of the StartMenu. Performance issues will occur when slow machines are used together with a real-time virus scanner (the virus scanner will scan when obtaining some shortcut icons).
