Sometimes I'm just blown away by how clever developers can be. I've had a number of people ask me how to view their
desktop as a list, rather than in icon view. Up until today, I wasn't able to provide an answer but, thanks to a
thread at the TabletPCBuzz.com forums, here's a nice solution.
This small, free program, Desktop List View (from iamwill),
does just that. A great solution for folks who have icons strewn all over their desktop (personally, I'm one of those
compulsive filers with only a handful of icons on the desktop).

1. Another option is to add the desktop toolbar to your startbar. If you drag it all to the right, it only shows the toolbar name and the chevron sign to indicate there is more. By clicking on the chevron sign, you can view your desktop shortcuts in a list. In addition, in this way you get quick access to the entire contents of your different drives, without opening the file explorer.
