OK. I forgive PC Magazine their unfortunate tendency to break every article up into a hundred mini-pages just so I
can see (and be seen by) more advertisers. I even forgive them the fact that their reviews don't contain an actual link
to the software they're reviewing.
But this is the second time in as many months that they have
suggested that Mozilla Thunderbird is an
Outlook-killer. Puh-leeeeze!
"The program is highly efficient, occupying less than 20MB when installed—pretty good for an e-mail client that, with
the right extensions, competes more with Outlook than with Outlook Express."
So begins the introduction to this latest version of what is quickly becoming my least favorite urban myth on the
net. Then, later in the article, the author admits that there are only a handful of extensions yet available for
Thunderbird (none of which, BTW, make this e-mail and RSS app any more of an Outlook-killer than it is
out-of-the-box).
It's an e-mail client for goodness sake. Compare it to Outlook Express. Please! I've recommended Thunderbird to
everyone I know who uses OE. Just as I recommend Firefox all the time. No slam on Mozilla intended (so hold the flames
please).
C'mon PC Magazine. You can do better than this.
Heh. Kunal says it far better than I did.

1. Heh, I commented on a similar "review" in December:

It's just ridiculous. :)
