Microsoft and Computer Associates have teamed up to offer Microsoft customers a free one-year subscription to the CA EZ-Armor Security Suite which includes CA's anti-virus and firewall products. The anti-virus application has gotten consistently high marks in competitive reviews recently and is particularly adept at detecting "in the wild" virii for which a signature has not yet been developed.
The firewall is basically the ZoneAlarm firewall. You can opt to try the enhanced firewall product for 15 days if you'd like. At the end of the trial period, you can either purchase a license or revert to the basic firewall product (no popup bloking, cookie controls, etc.). You get the same offer when installing the free ZoneAlarm firewall.
If you don't have anti-virus software or a firewall running on your PC, this is a no-brainer. If you've been relying on Windows' built-in Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) or even the new WIndows Firewall in the forthcoming Service Pack 2 release, this is a step up in protection.
This offer is "exclusive" to Microsoft customers and expires 02/01/2005.
